I have a Logitech wireless numeric keypad (Cordless Number Pad 920-000222) that I have successfully used with my XP guest. It is essential to my workflow, since I have no other way to input certain characters on the fly.
It worked fine in VB 3.1.2 and previous versions. Now I've installed 3.1.4 and it no longer works. The following are "grayed out" in VB under Devices>USB Devices: "Logitech USB receiver [4600]" and "Logitech Number Pad [0100]".
This device was never usable to the Mac side, but somehow worked for the XP guest (see http://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=17914 for a previous thread when I was trying to get a way to input such characters).
Does anyone know what changed in 3.1.4 that affects this and how to change it so it'll work again? I read this thread about USB and COM ports (http://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic. ... .4#p125892), but I don't think it really applies to my case. I am not really too excited about going back to 3.1.2 since it means I'm "stuck" with no future enhancements of VB.
(N.B. I also recently moved from Mac OS 10.5.8 (Leopard) to 10.6.2 (Snow Leopard). I didn't think to specifically verify that the numeric keypad worked after that upgrade, but I think it did. It's only been a few days, and I don't remember if I used the keypad since then.)

Exactly the same for me with different USB key and the reading device of my digital ballpoint pen which all where recognized by 3.1.2
So I move back whithout any problem to the 3.1.2 VB

Re: 3.1.4 USB keypad no longer recognized (was on 3.1.2)
After reading the last post (by "alainr"), I decided to "downgrade" to 3.1.2. I have not changed Guest Additions back to the 3.1.2 version, but at this point, everything seems fine. I'm HAPPY to have the keypad back again. Is this something that a bug should be filed for? (I've never done that.) If so, how can it be done. Obviously this is not affecting me only, and since 3.1.4 just came out, it may be that some people don't even know that they lost access to some USB devices in the transition from 3.1.2 to 3.1.4.

Is this a variation on http://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=23701?
Also, under 3.1.4 I find it necessary to check the USB device in the Devices --> USB Device list when the VM is running,
in additional the the filter for the USB Device being checked

I think it is the same basic problem. What's the next step to get a fix in the pipeline?ChipMcK wrote:Is this a variation on http://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=23701?

Re: 3.1.4 USB keypad no longer recognized (was on 3.1.2)
I went back to 3.1.2 and all was well. When 3.1.6 came out, I installed it, and the problem with USB ports is gone. All's well. Topic can be closed, in my opinion.
