Hi,
I've problems getting network working for my Windows 2000 guest on a Windows 7 x64 host with VB 3.1.4.
The first problem was that Windows didn't install with PCnest-FAST III adapter being selected. I switched to one of the Intel adapters and setup succeeded. But now Windows 2000 can't find any driver for any of the adapters that can be selected. What can I do?

Re: Windows 2000 Guest and NAT
Try the w2k install CD, w2k has a pcnet driver.

Re: Windows 2000 Guest and NAT
Windows 2000 indeed finds a suitable driver (C:\WinNT\inf\netamd.inf), but it freezes as soon as it tries to install this driver.
Re: Windows 2000 Guest and NAT
Did you run sp4 first? also have a look in device manager for hardware conflicts.

Re: Windows 2000 Guest and NAT
SP4 is integrated in the setup CD, so yes, SP4 is installed. Also there aren't any hardware conflicts. The only exclamation mark in device manager is next to the ethernet card, because Windows cannot find any suitable driver for it.
Re: Windows 2000 Guest and NAT
Freezing usually indicates a hardware conflict, have you tried deleting the nic, reboot? or try the intel ones eventhough they fail just to make sure the pcnet is gone, reboot again and switch back to pcnet. or copy the pcnet drivers to the win32 drivers folder before trying to 'let' it install.

Re: Windows 2000 Guest and NAT
Deleting the NIC and rebooting doesn't help. I also tried temporarily setting it to an Intel.
If I try to update the driver and tell Windows to look on the Windows CD for it, it only finds C:\WinNT\inf\netamd.inf. Does this mean that the CD doesn't contain a suitable driver? It's a MSDNAA license of Windows 2000 Professional SP4, English language.

Re: Windows 2000 Guest and NAT
Hmmm, basicly I install w2k sp2 or sp3, it then detects pcnet without issue, after installing w2k I run the sp4 update so maybe the integrated sp4 has a problem sp2/3 doesn't have. You could try extracting the pcnet drivers from sp2 to overwrite the sp4 version. I think I even at some point used the xp pcnet drivers on w2k.

Re: Windows 2000 Guest and NAT
Well, I only have this Windows 2000 SP4, no version with SP2 or SP3. I'll try to use the XP drivers.
Re: Windows 2000 Guest and NAT
Or download some different versions:
