Display Issues on Windows XP Guest

Post by clauer145 »

I am running VirtualBox 3.1.4 with a Windows XP Pro SP3 Guest on a Mac OS X 10.6.2 Host (MacBook with Intel Core 2 Duo processor). I was previously using VMWare and added my VMWare virtual machine to VirtualBox. I uninstalled the VMWare tools prior to moving it to VirtualBox. Windows now boots up ok, and programs run, however when clicking on the desktop or running some programs, the screen goes black. I then need to right click the desktop to refresh it for it to go back to normal. I also have this problem when clicking the Shutdown option in the Start Menu. I have installed the Guest Additions. I also reverted back to VirtualBox 3.1.2 and still have the same problem. I have increased the memory for the video display to 128mb from the original settings and also tried both the 3D and 2D acceleration settings and am still having the same problem. I am not running dual monitors. If I run Seamless mode, the start menu bar shows up black on the Mac desktop.

I, too, am running VirtualBox 3.1.4 with a Windows XP but mine is Home Ed. as Guest on a iMac OS X 10.6.2. So far everything runs good with either 2D & 3D checked. Recently I installed Ubuntu 9.10 64bit & had all kinds of graphic issues with 3D checked. Unchecking 3D fixed the issue. Also, I don't play video games in XP so maybe I'm not pushing it as much as others might.
