Installing JRE on Windows XP Messed Up Screen Resolution

Post by omaralqady »

I had a perfectly functioning VM running Windows XP Pro SP3 with the screen resolution at 1024x768, and then I installed JRE right after the installation finished the screen size shrank to 640x460, I checked the Settings the in the Desktop Properties window and I found out that I can only increase it to 800x600, which I did, and then checked the settings tab again this time I found that the minimum resolution is the one I'm currently at, but the ruler could not be moved at all, so apparently it's also the maximum resolution as well. I tried reinstalling VBoxGuestAdditions and restarting but that didn't make a difference. I'd appreciate it if anyone knows anything that might help me :)

Try the host+G toggle to make sure that the auto resize is turned on. What does host+f give you?

Host+G did it, I can't believe I did not think of that, but since I couldn't find the resolution at all I thought something much bigger had happened :)
Thank you so much for your help :)
