virtualbox.org

Hi everyone,
i searched everywhere on the net and on the forum, but didn't find any solution to my problem...
i'm running win7 ultimate N 64 bit and virtual box 3.1.4 (the one on the download page), and installed ubuntu karmic koala as guest.
when I start the virtual machine, virtualbox GUI keeps crashing everytime grub is loading...
Can someone help me fixing this problem?

Well here it is... i have four log files, i took the vbox.log.3 one

Drop the guest memory to 1024MB and try again

already tried, but it didn't work... at first i put it 512, it didn't work though... so i tried giving more memory to it, but nothing....

EDIT: tried it again and it does work... but i don't understand why... what's the maximum memory i can give to the virtual machine?

Well I have to get past this error. Try it again with 1024MB and then post that log file.

Typically it is 1/2 of the available memory. This will change depending on what you have running on the host when you start the guest. But this is what the log file you sent shows. so 1/2 of 3345 or about 1.5GB

ok, now i'm updating ubuntu karmic koala. as soon as i can i'll post the log files.

Hey if it is working now don't worry about sending the log file. Wait until you need us again.

This was a long outstanding bug, see here. It will be fixed in the upcoming 3.2.6 release.
