[ 0.0600001] kernel panic – not syncing: IO-APIC + timer doesn't work! Boot with apic=debug and send a report. Then try booting with the 'noapic' option. [ 0.060000]
I successfully installed Ubuntu 9.10 64bit on my iMac. I was able to reboot several time while doing system updates, But, after installing Linux Guest Additions + Xorg config I could not find xorg.conf file in /etc/X11/. I quit Ubuntu, then dismounted Linux Guest Additions in VB Settings. When I booted I got the above error.
I'm lost! Any ideas?
New error. Ubuntu guest on Mac host.

Re: New error. Ubuntu guest on Mac host.
Wow, this is weird! I no longer get that "kernel panic – not syncing: IO-APIC" error message but another error.
When I first open VirtualBox 3.1.4 I get this;
One or more virtual hard disks, CD/DVD or floppy media are not currently accessible. As a result, you will not be able to operate virtual machines that use these media until they become accessible later.
Press Check to open the Virtual Media Manager window and see what media are inaccessible, or press Ignore to ignore this message.

I have XP & Ubuntu installed. They both will open without warnings during boot. But, Ubuntu is very sluggish & message windows that were just closed linger until a mouse click. I don't think Linux Guest Additions + Xorg is fully installed but how can I check?
Suggestions are appreciated.

Look in the media manager and see what has a warning flag.

See attached. It doesn't give a error.

Click on the CD/DVD tab. There is a warning flag there.

I've given up & deleted everything. Thanks.
