Cannot install Guest Additions for Ubuntu 8.04 LTS

Environment Mac Pro 4,1 Snow Leopard 10.6.2 VBox 3.2.1 Ubuntu 8.04 LTS.
I am a newbie with VBox, although a Mac developer since 1984.
Installing VBox and Ubuntu went very smoothly, having read the relevant manuals.

After booting Ubuntu and logging in I tried to install the Guest Additions. However I get this

Shut down the guest and in the guest settings under storage, click on the CD and to the right in the drop down choose the guest additions.

Thank you sir. That worked (after I stumbled my way through Ubuntu GUI a bit)
Sigh... you can learn something new every day if you are not careful.
