32bit or 64bit Win7 on 64bit host

Post by karhong »

Hi,

I have 64bit centos 5.4 host OS, I have Virtualbox installed. However the amount of RAM I allocate to the virtual machine is 1Gb.
I intend to install Windows 7 guest OS.

Given my configurations above, does it still make sense for me to install a 32bit guest OS vs a 64bit guest OS ?
My main applications are MS Office, abode reader ; I will not be running any 16bit applications in guest OS.

Which guest OS (32bit vs 64bit) will be more optimised for my given configurations ?
Does 32bit guest performs more snappy than 64bit guest OS with only 1Gb ram ?

Your advice is appreciated, rgds.

Either will work. 32bit may be a better choice given the memory restriction. IMHO it runs a little faster with smaller amounts of RAM.
