MIDI for Windows 95b

Hi all,

I just installed a VM with soundblaster 16 and "normal" audio works fine (e.g. starting sound of windows), but there is no MIDI. I am acutally using the drivers provided with the MS installation disks.
When I started to play e.g. the "canyon.mid" from \windows\media, nothing can be heard.

The slider for MIDI in the windows audio mixer is at 50% and it is not muted or greyed out.

I found a soundblaster driver in the web "sbw95xup.exe", which I can install, but after this, it is even worth. Again, no MIDI, but this time, it is also greyed out in the windows audio mixer.
Maybe it is because the driver is English, but my windows is German. I can't believe this.

I copied the canyon.mid to the host and Windows 7 is playing it without any problem.

Host is Windows 7 Ultimate, latest version of Virtualbox.

Thanks in advance,
Stefan

Hi All,

I just found a solution on my own.

To whom it may concern:
- in Virtualbox configuration: use AC97 sound instead of Soundblaster 16
- restart VM
- abort search for new hardware
- delete Soundblaster device from device manager
- install Realteck driver for AC97, V4.06
can be found here: http://www.brothersoft.com/ac.97-audio- ... 03531.html
Attention: there are different driver packages available in the net. Some of them do not include win 95, they start with win98
- reboot
- this time accept search for new hardware
- drivers will be found and installed

-> "normale" sound and MIDI are working now.

Hi,

Works on Windows 98, too!

Sound and midi music!

Great for example for D.T.V.R. (Die Total Verrückte Rallye)
