Invisible window borders in seamless mode

I've been searching all around and haven't found anyone having this problem.

When I enable visual effects (compiz) in ubuntu and enable seamless mode, the window borders and title bars disappear from the linux windows. If I drag a linux window on top of another one, it becomes visible again.

In normal windowed or full screen mode everything works.

If I disable the effects it all works fine, but then the windows don't have 3d acceleration and everything is too choppy. I tried disabling only certain compiz effects but none solved the issue.

Should I report this as a bug? Anyone else has this problem?

If you have any ideas about what is causing this please share it, thanks!

Btw, I'm using latest version of everything, ati drivers, virtualbox, untunu, guest additions, windows, I have an ATI Radeon HD 4850 and AMD Athlon II X2 250 3.0 Ghz, and both windwos and ubuntu are 64 bit.

Guess I'll try to report it as a bug, can't seem to find anything like this in the bug database.

I'm having the same issue with compiz. Metacity works fine in seamless mode. I'm running VBox 3.1.4 on Windows 7 Ultimate with an Ubuntu Studio 9.10 guest.

Same problem. I should note I'm running 32-bit host/32-bit guest. Fix would be greatly appreciated.

Seen it. Fixed it. Forgot how. When was the last time you (re)installed Guest Additions?

Simple fix: disable composite window manager, or desktop effects as some managers call it. Without the 3D accelerated desktop, the titlebars will show just fine.

Works like a charm, thank you!

The TS stated this already, disabling desktop effects gives the wanted result, but you loose the nice eye-candy ;).

I have the same issue.

In seamless mode with compiz active, guest window borders are not displayed. (in windowed mode, it works fine.)

VirtualBox 3.2.8
Host: Windows 7 x64
Guest: Ubuntu 9.10 x86 (and tried with x64 guest too same problem)

Disabling compiz works around the issue, but I would really appreciate a fix.

(I want my compiz... *and* seamless mode... can I have both, pretty plz?)

I encountered the same problem.

VirtualBox: 3.2.10
Host OS: Windows 7 Home Ultimate
Guest OS: Ubuntu 10.10

Disabling 3d acceleration in the VM settings got the window dressing back, but it's choppy as heck now and nearly unusable.

I have the same issue in addition to full screen mode not operating properly.

VBox: 3.2.10
Host: Win7 Pro 64bit
Guest: Ubuntu 10.10 64bit
CPU: i5 Core 650
MB: Intel DH57DD
Graphics: Intel HD Graphics

In order for everything to work, I need to disable visual effects.

Has a bug been filed on this and can someone provide a link to the report?

I have this issue.

I don't consider using metacity instead of compiz to be a fix.. It is a work around.
