Windows XP in both VM and Native --- Can't boot native.

Post by foobie »

Hi everyone,

I just followed this tutorial trying to set up Windows XP to run in both a VM and native using linux as the host. Everything seemed to go smoothly and it works fine in the VM but when I try to boot into Windows native all I get is a blinking cursor in the upper left corner and nothing more. I fear that this might have something to do with the fact that I don't have the windows cd in when I boot natively. I'm trying to do this on my laptop which doesn't have a cd drive so I made an image of the Windows cd on my desktop and moved it to my laptop over the network. Anyway, any input would be much appreciated!

Right after you select to boot XP in grub, press F8 immediately. Boot in safe mode and see what happens.
