How to disable Keyboard Shortcuts in VirtualBox?

Post by concoran »

Is there a way to disable shortcuts in VirtualBox? I am especially interested in disabling Host+H (ACPI Shutdown) as I accidentally shut my guest down.

The only thing that I know you can do is switch the host key to something else. This is done in the preferences -> input, of the main VBox program GUI.

You could try configuring your Windows 7 guest to ignore the Power Button.
On Windows XP, this is Control Panel>Power Options>Advanced>Power Buttons..., I'm not sure what it would be in Windows 7.
From looking at the VirtualBox OSE source code, it does not seem possible to disable Home+H or change the shortcut key used.

Note that you can set the host key to "None", effectively disabling all of the keyboard shortcuts.

Go to File -> Preferences -> Input and click the red "X" beside "Host Key" to set it to "None".
