Windows Vista not working after installing Guest additions

Post by rejoyce »

Hi

A strange thing has happened to me. I've VB 3.1.2 installed and it works fine with Fedora and Debian. I've also installed Windows Vista, it works fine although the screen is very small with a very thick black border when I run in full screen mode. When I install "VB Guest Additions" the install completes ok, but when I reboot I get a "Critical Error" and Black screen and a message telling me to go to the VB forums and post the VBox.log and the VBox.png

Attahching VBox.log, VBox.png is just a black square, so not too interesting..

I can get the Vista to run if I enter Safe Mode with Networking on startup. I tried upgrading to 3.1.2 to fix it but no joy, It was the same on 3.0.2 and an earlier release

anyone any ideas?

Richard

PS: had to ZIP file to allow it upload

Code: Select all

00:00:01.012 Host RAM: 2048MB RAM, available: 438MB
00:00:01.223 RamSize <integer> = 0x0000000020000000 (536870912) or 536,870,912
You are assigning more RAM then you have available. You can not assign more than 1/2 of the available amount of RAM or 219 meg and that is not enough to boot Vista
