DirectDraw problems

Post by KevinKK »

Hi,

i have a problem with the graphics on my windows xp guest. I´m using also Windows XP as host.
I already installed the video drivers and the Direct3D works fine (as far as i could test it^^) but
the directdraw doesn´t work.
all the games that need directdraw do not work.
i did the same on my linux host and there that games worked quite fine.

so does anybody know how i can fix this?

1. define "all the games". Which games ?

2. Have you tried the *same* games on Linux host, and they work ?

3. Is this the same VM on both Windows and Linux host ? or different VM image ?

it was cossacks back to war and age of empires. but there was not an error.
i could see only stripes and only the upper half of the normal picture^^
the intro videos worked fine^^ on linux host i could play cossacks without any problem
and i installed only the guest additions not the wine thing
i have tried the same games on both hosts of course.
and it was the same vm (vm version), same settings but different image.
same windows xp version but different disk image.

In both XP guests, did you install the Guest Additions in Safe Mode?

ok i fixed the problem. the 2D-Video-Acceleration was ticked at first. i unchecked that box then it worked! that´s very interesting!!
And it was the same result with the linux-image.

Please open bug report in the bugzilla.
If there is a demo version of the game you play, post the link to bugzilla too...
provide vbox log

Any log where this problem is reproducible is good.
