Hi all. Running from host OSX 10.5.8, iMAC 1.83GHz Intel Core Duo, 1Gb 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM.
I am no expert. Before I install, I want to make sure I do NO HARM. Namely:

1. WHEN VirtualBox is NOT activated (but sits in Applications) is MAC performance EXACTLY as it was before downloading VirtualBox?

2. WHEN VirtualBox is NOT activated (but sits in Applications) is MAC memory (RAM + DISC) in any way affected?

3. If I find out later I no longer want V-Box, can I uninstall without leaving any harmful trace of it on my computer?

4. My sole interest in V-Box is to use a stand-alone software - a simplified CAD tool - which requires Windows: would the amount of RAM I have be enough?

5. Any particular recommendation to a computer-dumb?

Hello,

1 & 2, pretty much yes. Only main difference is that the space the VirtualBox program and the virtual hard disks take up.

3, as far as I know, yes.

4, probably, depending on the CAD tool you're using. Persoanlly I would prefer at least 1.5GB RAM for stable use with 512mb to the guest and the remaining 1GB to the host. Try it with 256mb, then 512 and if not install some more RAM.

5, as above, try some more RAM. XP is a good choice to use as a guest and if you get stuck the forum-ers are here to help. Providing you ask nicely, of course

I think tb2571989 meant to say: 1 : pretty much yes (exactly as it was before), and 2 : pretty much no (RAM is not affected).
DISC is affected, as tb2571989 says.
