Hi there, after reading tons of forums and user manuals I can't get trough this. Hope someone can help...

I've just installed a Windows XP SP3 on my Mac through a virtual machine.
Everything goes smooth but I have one big problem:; I can't connect to the internet in XP.

my stuff:
imac 3,06Ghz
VirtualBox 3.1.2
HOST mac os x 10.6.2 - GUEST windows xp sp3

Any clue?

What are the guest settings? Especially the network portion.

In a command window on the guest do the two following things and let me know what happens.

ping yahoo.com

ping 209.131.36.159

Also do you have a firewall on the host that could be blocking this?

Firewall on my host desactivated
Firewall on the guest desactivated

Results of the commands (in spanish):


ping yahoo.com
Host not found. Check the name and try again

ping 209.131.36.159
Destination host not accesible

OK then you really do not have Internet connectivity. Assuming that the host can access the web. You need to make sure that the network connection is turned on in the guest settings.
You can also run in a host terminal/command windows VBoxManage showvminfo <VM Name> and post here. Replace <VM Name> with the actual name of the VM. Use "" if the name has a space in it. This will show use the condition of the guest.
Also a ipconfig /all from the command window of the Windows guest will tell us if you are really getting an address so post that here as well.
Please translate what this says. My Spanish is not that good.

says "IP Configuration of Windows"

It does not look like the network stack is loaded. Look at the network configuration in Windows and make sure that IPv4 is enabled.
Also look at the device manager and make sure that the network adapter is enabled and does not have a yellow exclamation mark by it.

This is de devices administrator.

Would this be the problem?

Yes it would. You will either need to uninstall it and reboot (hoping Windows will find it) or try updating the device.
Either way this must be fixed before you will have Internet (or network) access.
Honestly this is very unusual. You may need to get some local help for this as getting it to work remotely is going to be hard at the best.
