Hello,
I have successfully installed vbox on ubuntu 8.04 ext3 format. I made a 10 gig drive and attempted to install from my netbook XP recovery dvd.
The C: drive is formatted, but when the install starts it crashes during the information collection portion (4 seconds into install) with an error about invalid system partitions to install to.
I haven't touched a windows install in 10 years. Is there an issue with using recovery disks?

Recovery Disks only work with original hardware.

Re: XP Home Recovery Disk as install medium
Recovery disks are not usable on other PCs and can only be done on original hardware. Use either the retail upgrade or full retail version of Windows XP Home Edition instead.
