Windows Server 2008 crashing randomly

I have installed a trial version of Windows Server 2008 32bit (not the R2 version) into the closed source version of 3.1.2. All went fine with the OS install and I also installed the Guest Additions.

Unfortunately, the vm appears to randomly crash as if the power cord was pulled out. There is no determining factor in the crashes I've had. The first was when trying to install something and I thought that it had tried to flick across into the Allow/Deny screen but died. However, it did not happen again at that point.

It will crash whether I am interacting with it or not. I am currently operating it as a vrdp session only from a headless server running Ubuntu 9.10 x64 Server. It was originally using 2 Gb of RAM, which I lowered to 1.75 Gb after searching the forums and finding a seemingly similar problem regarding using more than 50% of the available RAM. Lowering the amount of RAM used did not make any difference.

I uninstalled the Guest Additions after seeing it in another thread but was unable to control it properly and had to re-install. I have run a vm of Ubuntu Server on it without issue. Has anyone else had this happen to them or any idea what might be causing it?

Seems like the 3.1.2 Guest Additions are not friendly to Server 2008. Installed the 3.1.0 Additions and it has been up for 5 hours so far.

Aaaannnddd I spoke too soon.

Bombed again for no apparent reason. It was working fine until I went to rdp into it.

Stick to GA 3.08 or 3.0.12

I am having this issue too, is there an open ticket for this bug so that I can keep track of this?
I had a quick look but couldn't find one.
