internal networking question

I have seen a few posts/articles on how to route IP packets into the guest operating system, but what if I don't want external
packets to go into the guest os...I just want to be able to talk to the guest OS from the host OS?

For example, I would like to use safari on the mac os to view a webpage hosted by the guest os.

How can I do that?

Select host-only for the network connection in the guest settings.
