USB device not working

I have a Pinnacle PCTV infrared remote (receiver and blaster).

It is picked up fine by VirtualBox and dmesg on the Ubuntu client shows it being configured correctly.

However, when I issue commands such as:

irsend SEND_ONCE SAE8000 2

To send commands to the transmitter there is no response from the transmitter.

The device works fine on my Ubuntu netbook + doing strace on it produces identical output on the two machines.

It feels like there is a problem on the OS/X or Virtualbox to OS/X end of the operation, but I'm at a loss how to debug this.

Is anyone else having trouble with USB devices with OS/X 10.6.2 hosts?

Hi,

I'm also having problems with a USB device with OS 10.6.2. It's a CANbus USB interface. I've added it to the filters list, the device is detected in Windows XP and all the drivers load ok, but in Device Manager I get the error code "This device cannot start. (Code 10)". Also, if I try to detach the device from the VirtualBox menu, I get the following message:

Failed to detach the USB device Unknown device 0000:0000 from the virtual machine Windows XP.
Assertion failed: [!DevPtr.isNull()] at '/Users/vbox/tinderbox/3.1-mac-rel/src/VBox/Main/USBProxyService.cpp' (215) in nsresult USBProxyService::detachDeviceFromVM(SessionMachine*, const nsID&, bool).
Please contact the product vendor!.

I know the device works fine with another Mac under bootcamp, but I'm having no luck with OS X / VirtualBox. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Yes, me too.
I have Windows XP as guest on OSX 10.6.5 and I have trouble to get my Xilinx CPLD running.
The device is noticed in the XP guest, but it is not communicating correctly.
It works fine on native Windows but not in the VM.
