MF Scanner Problem with 3.1.2

I have a WinXP32 guest on a WinXP64 Windows guest.
I installed a USB HP PhotoSmart C4780 multifunction printer in the guest while the VBox version was the one before 3.0.12. Both the printing and scannig worked OK with some temporary exceptions.
I recently upgraded to VBox 3.1.2 and the scanning stopped working. It would issue errors or crash.
I downgraded back to 3.0.12 and now the scanning works.
