Moving VirtualBox images (.vdi) from one machine to another

I have been having trouble cloning and moving vdi (VirtualBox disk images). I can't move a vdi to another machine without it becoming "read only" even after changing the UUID. Is there an easy way to move vdis from one machine to another?

Have to say I've never had a problem with this....I created the image in the Shared user folder and then once created, have managed to copy that disk image onto half a dozen other computers without any problem. I suspect that if you have the files in a specific user folder that is the problem with the permissions changing....maybe try and move or recreate the image in the Shared user folder as this has the same permissions on all macs.

Thanks for the reply. I'll try again. I also use tar to create an archive of the .vdi which may have done something to the permissions since I did not tell tar to preserve them.
