Hey everyone!
I am running ubuntu 9.10 as a host and windows 7 as a guest. I have been here and here and have done everything there successfully. I have all the corerct .dll files and everything where it should be, i've installed guest additions (yes, I installed Direct3D support under safe mode in the guest additions) and all went without error.
When I run dxdiag (the diagnostic tool) it still shows that Direct3D Acceleration and AGP Texture Acceleration are both unavailable, however DirectDraw Acceleration is enabled.
I want to run America's Army 2.8.5 and can't, i'm guessing because the Direct3D things aren't running properly. AA gives me an error "Direct3DCreate8 failed." which I've read is almost always linked to video cards.
Any idea how to get this to work?
thanks!
Mathieu

Re: Direct3D unavailable
Nevermind, I stumbled upon the "Enable 3D Acceleration" option under the VM Settings, and everything works now. I'd also like to add AA 2.8.5 Works, the video is pretty choppy, but that might be a not amazingly great video card problem.
