Unable to mount USB devices

Post by lmwashere »

Hello all,

I am having an issue where I cannot mount some USB devices. I am running Linux Mint 8 x64 as a host OS and running Windows XP Pro x86 as the guest with Virtualbox. I installed the Virtualbox 3.0.10 version which was available from the repo and have gone back and made sure it was not the OSE version. I attempted to install the newer version and wound up with some install error.

I When I plug in a usb drive and try to select it from the virtualbox USB devices menu, it will see the drive and display the name of the drive, but it will not allow me to select it. The same thing applies to my digital voice recorder.

The reason that I say it will not allow me to mount some devices is that the other device displayed under the usb menu is the fingerprint scanner which is built into my laptop. It will allow me to connect to this device and will register it properly with the guest OS.

Any ideas or help would me most appreciated, thanks in advance.
