USB Handling

Post by slafochmed »

I tried the search here in the forum but it does not work. It returns nothing when searching for "usb".

The problem is that I have a usb stick with a sound card, and a headset connected to it. I love it because I use it in Windows XP just plugging it in or out. Every new started application will channel sound through the usb instead of the chip on the motherboard (would be going to my speakers).

Now, in vmware the sound usb was loaded with no problem.
In virtualbox, using the same guest windows xp, I do not get it to work.
The usb entry is there, in full black. When I click on it, it says it is busy with an old connection.
Restarting the VB does not help. Unplug and replugging does not help.
The little information when mouse-over the usb entries says that it is already connected to the guest.

Once I got it working by enabling another usb entry. But when I restarted the VB it did not work anymore.
Is there anything I can do?

Ok, strange.
Now it seems to work.
I did a restart of the host and guest.
After that, the activation and deactivation of the usb sound worked flawlessly.
Then I created a filter for the usb sound and now it is correctly initialized in the VB.
I hope it stays so. :)
