Will a Windows-created Virtual Machine run in MacOS VB?

If I create a virtual machine with VirtualBox for Windows, can I take the virtualbox file(s) over to a Mac and run the virtual machine in VirtualBox for MacOS?

Where my question is coming from, if you're curious:
My Dad wants to learn more about windows and microsoft office so he can improve his resume, but he has a Mac. I'd like to put together a virtual machine for him on my PC, and then bring the virtual machine file(s) and just drop them into his mac and run it under VirtualBox for Mac.

May be, must not.

Try coping the vdi file to the MAC, create a new guest and point to this image.

I've successfully created a VDI on a linux host and moved it to a Mac OS X host; I added the disk with machine manager then created a new guest using that disk as the boot drive. Worked like a charm.
