Innotek Win9x guest additions

Post by half12 »

Hi,

I found that MS VirtualPC 2004 SP1 includes Innotek Guest Addition software for DOS, Win9X, WinNT, 2000 and XP.
I found the VMadd.iso file after installing VirtualPC 2004 in on Win2K in a VBox but not running the software.
Browsing the Microsoft Virtual PC directory I found the floppy and cd images.
However, when I attempt to install the Guest Addition software on Win98se, the installer generates a Severe Error message and complains
that the software can only be installed in a Virtual Machine :D .
Has anyone else tried this?

Why would you expect Virtual PC guest additions (especially old ones) to work in a VirtualBox VM? - regardless of who wrote them?

Guest additions for Windows 9x/Me are not available in VirtualBox and thus, they are not supported operating systems. If you want to try out limited guest addition support for Windows 9x/Me, install VMware Player and then install VMTools. Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 and Windows Virtual PC users can use the VM additions from VPC 2004 and VPC 2007 respectively.
