What can cause Windows Media Player on a Win7 guest to refuse to play the sample video? (wildlife.wmv)
VBox 3.1.0
Win7 x64 RTM ultimate host.
Guests:
Win7 x64 RTM ultimate
Win7 x32 RTM ultimate
XP Pro SP2
The video played fine on both W7 guests when I first created them last week. Now, the media player plays sound but no video. It displays a small still picture instead. The troubleshooter indicates the likely cause as a missing codec. All codecs are installed. (Compared the installed list to the host system)
Plays perfectly on the host. I downloaded and installed WMP 11 on the xp guest, and the video now plays perfectly there.
I am trying to rack my brain on the possible things I have done to both Win7 guests, and the only thing I can recall is re-installation of guest additions, and increasing CPUs to 2. Is it possible one of these killed the video capability?

Did you install the guest additions in safe mode?
