Hi,
I don't understand what do you mean by "close it out". What would you like to "close"? Virtual machine client like Windows XP? If so just Windows usual Start | Turn of Computer.
Please write more details. Please also write what is your host operating system and what is you guest operating system and versions of them. Also write what is your VirtualBox version.
Regards

If the Machine is running in FullScreen, you can press control and f to bring it back. If you want to torn the machine off, shuit it down like a normal computer, for example in windows, start, shut down.

Hi,
maybe you are using VirtualBox GUI, press Show button to display virtual machine, then start and shut-down inside of virtual machine (if using Windows).
