If I switch from seamless mode I no longer have menu's displaying at the top of the window. If I try to use ctl-home to get access to these functions I get the main display but no child menus and the mini-menu will flash when first starting the vm but will not activate after that. Anyone else see this behavior? I just upgraded to 3.1

I run Ubuntu Karmic or Lucid in seamless mode and have both the menu tab or the host+home tab working. (version 3.1.0 Final release PUEL)
Are you sure that you restarted the host after the upgrade and that the guest additions (new ones) are installed?

just saying that i like the way the menu is right now in seamless mode. no problems with it. it auto hides and leaves a little white outline so that i know where it is for wen i need it. good job

Re: Menu's gone when switching from seamless mode
Just to make sure I rebooted. Now when I go from windowed to seamless and then try to go back all I get is a large grey box that is transparent, where the windowed vm should be. But I think this may have something to do with KDE since another program is exhibiting a strange problem where the viewing window looks like an open window (frame with nothing in it). Any thoughts?Perryg wrote:I run Ubuntu Karmic or Lucid in seamless mode and have both the menu tab or the host+home tab working. (version 3.1.0 Final release PUEL)

Don't know my friend. I use Gnome, but I can tell you that you need to shut off the special effects and Compiz if you intend to run seamless.
I have never been able to use those reliably seamless and I really like seamless. If you are using Compiz you can install the Compiz Icon and then switch this on and off depending on whether you want to go seamless. Also you can install simple-ccsm which will allow you to adjust a few Compiz settings that may make you life easier. Oh and this is on the Host! 3D effects on the guest might cause the same thing. Of course this is just what I have seen. Others may have different or better ideas.
