drag-n-drop is really useful feature, but AFAIK no one is working on it.

I don't like tabbed windows (VMware).

It would be cool of it appeared in 3.2, it is probably easier to do than most of things they have implemented in 3.1.

I'm running Windows XP (Guest) on a Mac OS X (10.5.8 ). I have noticed upon installing the Guest Additions that when using the touchpad, scrolling is difficult and abrupt. It is simply too sensitive. Much different than it has been in previous VB updates. Any one else having this issue?

Hi

I seem to have run into a problem, I just upgraded my 3.0 to 3.1 and I had 2 vm debi386 (32bit) & debamd64 (64bit) machines. they were set to 2 cpu. When I went to start these machines up they failed when set to 2 cpu - it crashed message saying something along the lines of missing VT-x. and when I moved to single cpu, they poped up a message box to say VT-x is not available ....

Going to have to go back to 3.0 I think

EDIT
I can confirm my vm's are working again now that I have gone back to 3.0

Macbook Pro + LED Cinema Display. All the time developing under an Ubuntu virtual machine in fullscreen on the cinema display. Before 3.1 version the dock bar was visible on the laptop screen so i knew all teh time if i was receiving emails, skype chats or whatever. Now when working in fullscreen on the cinema display, the laptop show nothing, and i don't know any system notifications. I have to switch to another workspace every 10 or 15 min to see what's happening in the outside world. This feature has ruined my productivity, and I'd love it to be optional on the next version (PLEASE!).

I would love to see drag and drop in VirtualBox. I know a lot of people that would switch to VirtualBox from VMWare if that existed.

I noticed that in VB 3.1.0 the macosx dock and top menu bar, that would appear when hovering the mouse close to top of the screen in fullscreen mode, do not appear anymore.

I agree having the option to have the Mac menu show would be better for me. Just as a workaround, you can assign your VM to a space and use Warp (free prefpane) to switch between the mac desktop and the vm easily. or I suppose remember the command keys to do it. I find running VM's in a separate space works well.

hmmm, that was suppose to be a quote. oh well

Hi

I have run into another problem with 3.1, from the command line I am unable to attach a dvd. so

VBoxManage list vms - works
VBoxManage controlvm <vm> dvdattach <path to iso> - doesn't work any more.

This is a linux host windows client!

Version 3.1 uses different commands for attaching/detaching drives now.

See VBoxManage storageattach in the user manual.

dvdattach might still work on a VM IF it already has a DVD controller & drive attached (it will for a VM created 3.0 and before, and it won't for a new VM created with 3.1): VBoxManage storagectl can add a DVD controller and drive, or use the GUI.

That's what I forgot to mention about 3.1.0:

I appreciate the new possibilities to configure the ChipSet now - you can decide on which port you attach the CD/DVD-ROM now (was fixed to master on second IDE-port before).

I did some serious BETA testing of VBox 3.1.0. This pretty much summarizes our status.

I have EXACTLY the same scenario and have been looking for a resolution, but have not yet seen one posted.

The errors in dxdiag are:
Direct3D 8 test results: Failure at step 6 (No hardware supported display modes found): HRESULT = 0x80004005 (Generic failure)
Direct3D 9 test results: Failure at step 6 (No hardware supported display modes found): HRESULT = 0x80004005 (Generic failure)

I am on Mac OS X 10.6.2 with Windows XP Pro SP3 guest.
I have upgraded the virtualbox additions in safe mode.
The same guest worked with dxdiag 3d acceleration for dx 8 and 9 modes on the last several virtualbox releases.
Yes, the host-side settings do have 3D and 2D acceleration enabled. I first tried it with the same settings as before with only 3D enabled.
I later tried it with 2D also enabled.

Downgrading to 3.0.12 guest additions didn't work for me. I get the VirtualBox drop-down warning about incompatible guest additions and then dxdiag goes unresponsive.

I have not found any combination that works. :-(

Anyone have the solution to this 3.1.0 regression?

Hi
I just tried 3.1.2, host = mac, guest = windows xp 32 bit. I appreciate the intention of bringing back the autoshow the mac menubar and dock, but what I see in 3.1.2 is not what was there in 3.0.12, and it is not satisfactory at least for me. Details: in 3.0.12 and previous releases, hovering the top of the screen shows the mac "menubar and dock". That got removed in 3.1.0 and was requested to be an option (expected for 3.1.2). What we got in 3.1.2: hovering the top only shows the menubar, not the dock (expected: also shows the dock) and in addition (new) hovering the bottom (typically to see the windows or other OS taskbar) now shows (on top of the taskbar) the mac dock (expected: it does not show the dock, only the taskbar). I don't know but can guess (sorry if I am wrong) that this is intentional. The problem with this new change in design is that instead of having the mac panels (menubar and dock) related to one sector of the screen (top) and the windows panels (taskbar) in another sector (bottom), we have now everything mixed. So if I want to have access to the mac applications and info I need to hover 2 regions (top and bottom) and in addition each time I hover the bottom to have access to the windows taskbar (bottom) I see on top of it the mac dock.

Please, is there any way that the behavior of 3.0.12, that is also the one in previous VB releases, that people asked as an option, be made as an option? (I mean without changing the design as I see it got changed in 3.1.2). Many thanks in advance.
