Could this sneaky "vdi to iso" method work?

Before I risk my time and energy, I wanted to get input from you more experienced people.

I made an XP guest OS with a few basic software installations. If possible, then I would like to convert this vdi into a bootable iso.

Could this sneaky "vdi to iso" method work?

1) Open K3B
2) Select "make image only" of the vdi in question
3) Create the iso based upon the vdi
4) Burn the iso onto DVD
5) Install the iso into a virtual machine lacking a vdi (or a real physical computer needing an OS)

Would this cunning plan work, meaning: Would doing so create a bootable iso that I could use either in a virtual or real pc?

Thank you.

That would depend on the OS. Windows will flat out BSOD on a read-only system. Linux has a better handling with it, but you can create custom live CDs for it, so why bother? Besides, I doubt the VDI MBR will work on the DVD. There is some additional information in the VDI too that you don't want on the disc. So, thinking about all that, the answer is NO, it won't work.
