Could this sneaky "vdi to iso" method work?

Before I risk my time and energy, I wanted to get input from you more experienced people.
I made an XP guest OS with a few basic software installations. If possible, then I would like to convert this vdi into a bootable iso.
Could this sneaky "vdi to iso" method work?
1) Open K3B
2) Select "make image only" of the vdi in question
3) Create the iso based upon the vdi
4) Burn the iso onto DVD
5) Install the iso into a virtual machine lacking a vdi (or a real physical computer needing an OS)
Would this cunning plan work, meaning: Would doing so create a bootable iso that I could use either in a virtual or real pc?
Thank you.
