mounting drives

I've got Windows 7 running under Ubuntu 9.10 and virtualbox 3.0.12. I have all my data on a separate physical hard drive. I've tried the adding from the Virtual Media Manager, but the changes don't show up in Windows. How can I get Windows to see all the drives (except Ubuntu's)?

Have you tried going into computer management and seeing if the disk is there? Right click on "Computer" and "Manage". Under Storage, go to Disk Management, and check what drives are shown.

You've got me confused. Exactly what did you add in Virtual Media Manager? You can't add a physical drive in Virtual Media Manager, you can only add virtual disks.
VirtualBox's 'Shared Folders' will allow you to access those drives in Windows, see section 4.6 of the user manual.

I'm probably the only one who is confused here. I tried adding shared folders, but I must be doing something wrong because they never show up in Win7. (Yes, I tried Windows storage management system, and it does not see the shared folders, so what next?
TIA

Read the manual about Guest Additions, chapter 4. It's all there. Also discussed since the beginning of time here on the forums.

I have an external hard-drive running from this method.
