Why not VB on SPARC?

Hello,

New to VB, have been using and administrating SunOS the last 2 decades.

I've searched the forums and found a few articles mentioning SPARC and
that VB isn't supported on SPARC, as well as a few requests for opening it up.

I'd love to see VB on SPARC and would like to know what prohibits it.
Is it licensing, development time or lack of community interest for porting?

Toying with VB + Oracle VM + Oracle EL at the moment, on x86.

Best regards,

//Robert

For the same reasons you won't find it on ARM, PPC and other types of CPU's. It's made for x86 and x86_64 architectures. That doesn't mean you're not allowed to modify the OSE to run on Sparc ;).

yeah good luck with that! in the meantime look into solaris containers/zones/brandz (or whatever sun are calling it today).
