Enteprise server licensing question

I've been using VirtualBox successfully at home for some time now, so I'm now considering using it at work on a company server.
My requirement is simply to have one host server running VirtualBox and create 4 guest operating systems (2 Linux, 2 Windows) that act as continual integration build systems for various projects.
I'm assuming that my use case fits into the 'server' licensing option for VirtualBox, at a cost of $500 per license, but can anyone tell me what the reference to 'sockets' means in the statement...
"The Server Subscription is priced per server per 4 sockets with unlimited virtual machines in *server*-side deployment."
Thanks
Andy
