imported VMDK files failing to start

Post by bazagee »

Sorry beginner question he. I'm trying to get VMware Server VMDK files to load and start in VB 3.0.12. I have imported the VMDK files using VMManager then created the VM in VB as per the instructions. The VM starts showing a grey line as the Windows Guest tries to boot Tried and XP and Server2003 image so far with same results.

I can create a VB guest from scratch without a problem. I've read a couple of posts on this forum about removing the VMWare Install Tools from the image. I haven't tried that yet but it does not look like that solved the problem in the thread I was reading - unfortunatley there was no solution posted.

TIA

By all means remove the other guest additions first and it will help. Other than that you should compare the settings that you had on it. They need to match.

P2V instructions can also apply to V2V, so check out http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Migrate_Windows and other VirtualBox P2V you can find.
