are we supposed to install the latest directx, before installing anything else?

i havent really seen instructions on getting 3d support fully working.

also, how often are wined3d updates integrated into virtualbox releases?

DirectX is supplied with the GA when installing it with 3D enabled. If you install DirectX manually, either before or after the GA, it will probably break 3D support.
