[Solved]Windows Media Services Network Issue

Post by franticdj »

Hey,

I've installed Virtualbox version 3.0.6 on the Windows Vista host OS. As a guest OS i have windows server 2008 enterprise running. I have this guest OS setup as a streamings server. The stream works when i try to open it from the guest os.

Now i want to open it from the host os and later on from other physical machines. Now i am running in to the following: how the hell do i do that?

Ive tried the following:
- tried to use the virtual machine's name (mms://WIN-0CLQVAAY0SS/k3)
- tried to use the virtual machine's IP adress (mms://10.0.2.15/k3)
- tried to use the host's ip adress (mms://145.48.231.18/k3)

*the /k3 part is the link to the stream.

But neither work..

The host's machine is in the 145.## ip range (or a 192.## range when i'm home) but the guest's ip is 10.0.2.15

I can ping the host os from within the guest os, but i cant ping the guest os from within the host os.

I hope you can help!

Switch over to Bridge mode, see the Manual.

Thanks!

That worked.. The file in the stream now stops like a few minutes into the stream.. But that'll be some issue with the streaming server software :)
