Can 32 bits Guest run on 64 bits Host?

Dear all,

I am not sure whether this is the right place to post this question.

I have searched and found discussions on running 64 bits guests on 32 bits host. However, can we run 32 bits guests on a 64 bits host? For example, running:
1. 32 bits Window XP (guest) on 64 bits Window 7 (host)
2. 32 bits Window XP (guest) on 64 bits Ubuntu (host)
3. 32 bits Ubuntu (guest) on 64 bits Window 7 (host)
4. etc.

If yes, do I need VT-x hardware support? Please advise. Thank you.

Regards,
Francis

You can run 32-bit guest operating systems (Linux, Windows NT 4.0 through Windows 7) with Intel VT-x/AMD-v support, but 64-bit guest OSes require it and currently, many computers do not have Intel VT-x/AMD-v support.

Yes, 32-bit guests run on 64-bit hosts.

No, hardware virtualization support is not required.
