Copy virtualbox Machine

Hi,

I am trying to copy the hard drive from my virtual box to a laptop running virtual box. I unattach the hard drive then copy it to a usb hard drive. When I reattach it the program I installed is gone, also on my laptop the program is not there just the plain windows XP pro. My laptop has a bad CD rom that is why I am installing the program on my desktop.

Why does the program disappear when I remove the hard drive and also is not my copy ?

I bet you were using snapshots. These are not copied with the base image.
First you do not need to un-attach the VDI (HDD) to copy you just needed to shut VirtualBox down.
If you did this with snapshots then they are more than likely not included with you base VDI any longer.
