I have used virtualbox after migrating from VMware Workstation and i have discovered somthing like Windows XP Mode using virtualbox's seamless mode, but i would like to run XP Apps without reopening the Virtual Windows XP Desktop. I have a licensed copy of XP with me so thats not a problem, is there anyway to run my Virtual Windows XP apps without opening the desktop. Btw here are my spec

Guest OS: Windows XP Sp3 32 bit fully activated
Processor: Intel Pentium E2200 @ 2.20 GHz (No hardware assisted virtualization)
RAM: 2.00 GB
OS Type: 32 Bit x86

Move the Guest taskbar to the top or to the right of the screen, then go into seemless mode.

What exactly don't you get? You install the Guest additions which gives you the ability to use Seamless Mode.

The actual XP mode starts the VM too, you just don't notice it except for the long wait before the program shows.

so it still uses the RAM allocated to the VM

I think what GoYankees wants and me too, is to be able to launch applications that run inside a VirtualBox Virtual Machine, from the Host's Start Menu. Like Windows Xp Mode. So avoid opening the virtual machine and then select the program from the VM start menu.
