I run skype in snow leopard and works fine. When I virtualize Windows7 on Snow Leopard with VirtualBox 3.0.10 and run skype, only the loudspeakers sound, unable to use the internal microphone and neither the webcam.

Are you running it on mac snow leopard? If so, then the option is right click on skype option in the dock and you can untick the option "open at login".
