I'm running VB 3.0.10 r54097 on a Vista 64 host, and it seems to consume a huge amount of memory to run a VM. Keeping an eye on the task manager, memory usage creeps up. I've got 6GM RAM on the host, and running a 2GB VM, my mem usage is 77%.

Re: Memory Leak?
Strange. I noticed that version 3.0.10-54097 actually manages the memory better.
Keep in mind that Vistas memory manager has a lot to do with it as well. If you open another program and Vista sees that you need more memory it will release some of what it has reserved and your actual memory indication will show more memory available.
You can use the sysinternals process explorer to see exactly what VirtualBox is using.

Re: Memory Leak?
Good idea; I'll try that. As of now, memory use has risen to 82% up from the 77% earlier.Perryg wrote:Strange. I noticed that version 3.0.10-54097 actually manages the memory better.

Re: Memory Leak?
First check how much memory Windows is using for its disk cache: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysi ... 97561.aspx
This value increases quickly as Vista tries to load as much of the VDI as it can.

Re: Memory Leak?
Just disable superfetch and prefetch, they're useless anyway, vista will take a little more time to start up but after that things run alot faster.
