Can I dupe a VM guest's OS and its apps then reinstall on new VM with a new date stamp?

Is this just a matter of Snap shot?

Do I play with vdi's and xmL stuff?

Can't be done for various reasons.

The best you can do is us a mirroring third party app.

You'd have to be more clearer what you want to do, there are 'touch' tools to change a date stamp.

I believe the OP is referring to cloning the VM, and by "date stamp" I think he actually means the VDI UUID.

If so then yes, that's quite possible.

More clearer please! Perhaps give an example of what you are trying to do.

If you mean: 'If I take a snap shot on Nov 7 and revert the VM back to that snap shot on Nov 10th what date does the Vm think it is?', then the answer is:

• All files on the VM's disks will be the same as they were on Nov 7. Any changes made since Nov 7 will be undone.
• The VM will think the system date is today. Snapshots do not affect the system date and time.

Many people find snapshots confusing, so make sure you know what the buttons do before you try them.

'Revert to Current Snapshot' does what it says and undoes changes since the last snapshot.
'Discard Snapshot' does not undo changes since the last snapshot; it keeps those changes.
DO NOT use 'Discard Current Snapshot and State'.
