Importing .xml Guest into new system

Post by drhoule@hubcc.ca »

I have moved a VBOX virtual system to another host.

I would like to import the VBOX Guest .XML into the new Host VirtualBox GUI.
In the past I would create a new Virtual machine with the original file names, then copy over the guest .XML and VDI.

I noticed VBOXmanage can import only one guest format. Is there a command to import a native VBOX guest?

Yes, this is possible, but only if no media is attached to it. So you have to remove the entries of the hard drive and cd/dvd before importing works. VBoxManage registervm <xml file>.
