install Dell Xp OS as guest on Hardy
I have a Dell Vostro 1500, but I'm trying to install the Dells OS system as a guest on Hardy. I've tried once but it seems the disk doesn't recognize the laptop and acts like a normal Xp install and doesn't accept the serial numbers. Is there a way to let virtual Xp OS to recognize it's on the laptop it was shipped with? Or is there another work around?

Your VM is NOT your Dell Laptop and so does not comply with the license from Dell. You're out of luck.

Look at section 9.14 of the user manual and this link: Virtual Machine Configuration

Re: install Dell Xp OS as guest on Hardy
Thanks Mark
That was a lot of help and it worked. I've pretty much switched over to Linux or Ubuntu and feel fairly comfortable with the OS, even though I found Xp to be an excellent Os itself.
