Windows Me Installation Loop!

Hey,

I created an 8GB virtual machine on which I'd like to install Windows Me, from which I can upgrade to Windows XP. However, when I boot setup from the CD, Setup asks me to press "Enter" and restarts the computer, and I end up being caught in the same installation step: performing "routine" system checks. In other words, Windows keeps thinking that Setup is being run for the first time, rather than in a series of steps. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks!
