[Solved] Compete Newbie Updating Question

Hi I am completely new to virtual machines and have a very simple question that I did not see an answer for elsewhere. If I install, say, ubuntu in a virtual machine, is it possible to update that guest operating system in the way I would update ubuntu when it is not in a virtual machine? The reason I ask is this. The newest ubuntu does not work well with one of my computers but I hope updates will make it work. (That is a common pattern with Ubuntu.) I was thinking that if I ran it in a virtual machine, and if it could be continuously updated, sooner or later it would start working correctly and I could install it to the hard drive. Thanks for any help. Sanford

As long as your VM has network connectivity (bridged or NAT) then updating the guest OS will work fine.
