Hi,
Installing VB in my notebook (Windows XP Home), with administrator priviledges (MS didn´t give the "Administrator"
password), the installation didn´t finish. After the "not pass in the Windows logo test", the only button available was
the "Close" one. There was no "Continue Anyway" button. The installation did not finish.
Doing the same thing in my desktop computer (Windows XP Pro), at the moments where the "not passed in the
Windows logo test" message appeared, I clicked the button "Continue Anyway" until the end of the installation.
At the desktop, the installation was successfull.
I had this same problem with another software - Altera Quartus for FPGA design - and, after TWO months talking
directly with Altera, they gave up telling me that, the software doesn´t run in Windows XP Home (only in WinXPPro).
My question is:
VB works in WinXP Home? If "yes", HOW?
Regards
Jaraqui

Yes, it should work on XP Home. How? No idea, as I don't have XP Home, but it should work the same way as on Pro. The driver warning dialog should be the same in both versions.

I believe that it should but not totally sure. Have you tried right clicking the install and then left clicking on run as admin?
I don't remember anyone having a problem like this and surely some of them had xp home.

Until about a month ago my home PC ran XP home, and I never had this problem. I would say to check again that you have admin privileges.

Re: Windows XP Home vs Windows logo without "Continue Anyway"
I suspect that HP did some "extra-protection". My laptop is an old HP Pavillion.
On the User & Accounts / Control Panel I tried to create the Administrator user and
a message telling that already existed an Administrator account. But I never had
access to this account! The system came in OEM version and I can only create
Admin equivalent users (never the Admin itself). I will check with HP, because
I am thinking that you guys have access to this "Admin" account.
Thanks

Did you try to right click on the install and the left click on run as admin?
This will usually install programs as admin without you actually having to be logged in as the admin and not require the password.

This isn't Vista and newer, so you don't have this option. You're admin or you aren't, and if you aren't, you can't even start the installer, as you get a warning about it.Perryg wrote:Did you try to right click on the install and the left click on run as admin?

Jaraqui, I suspect HP software too to prevent non-signed drivers. Maybe some policy is set. Please use google to find a solution for that.

Not by default, you have to hold the Shift key to actually see it.Perryg wrote:Sasquatch wrote:This isn't Vista and newer, so you don't have this option.
