i've tried that and 3.0.8 has the same problem with bridged networking as 3.0.10 started...it must be some remnant from the 3.0.10 install that has hosed up bridged networking.....not sure how to proceed :(

Kabalah,

did you delete all references to VBox? I had to manually delete the corrupted driver and also clean out some stuff in the registry with regedit by hand.

Then I did a reboot and installed 3.0.8!

Good luck.

what stuff did you clean out of the registry? *vbox* *VirtualBox* ?
i did delete the corrupted vbox*.sys files from system32/drivers
thanks for helping :) i really miss having this on my work machine now.
this has just showed me i need a test box to put the updates on before
touching my production stuff on my desk.
ok, tried that, and 3.0.8 still refuses to allow bridged networking with the error
i listed earlier. so i've removed everything again. somehow 3.0.10 totally broke my
vbox installation.

Kabalah,

if I remember correctly, I cleaned-out everything with "virtualbox" and also deleted the drivers and also the directories!

Good luck.

ok, i've done all that....i just don't understand what the 3.0.10 release could have done to totally invalidate my box from using 3.0.4, 3.0.8 and 3.0.10......i'll try once more later tonight.

I can confirm you that it can work with bridge using v3.0.10. I have install it on 7 computer XP sp3 host and guest, 6 are working fine and I use Nortel VPN software with a router to share the internet but 1 is not working with a fresh install of 3.0.10 Error is : Failed to open/create Host interface Networking, ... Verr_supdrv_component_not_found

have you try :
Run VirtualBox
File ? Global Settings
Network ? Add a new network card
This will leads to an installation of the necessary drivers.
I just found this possible answer but can not try it now on my not working machine
